Each winter I design and build a radio controlled model with the local air cadet squadron. Generally this has been a glow machine, but this past winter we decided to build a small electric. This design we call the "Classy Lady" was the result.
Powered by an e-flite 370 outrunner and a three cell 2100mah lipo, this little ship is groovy and agile and easily flies most aerobatic manoeuvers. Weight is 20 ounces and the prop we use is an APC 9 by 4.7

EASTWIND MODELS PLANS
EASTWINDMODELS GEMINI is a small electric twin powered by two GWS geared motors. It is a smooth and stable model that flies very scale like from small flying sites.
The plans are very detailed and show the use of two different GWS motor/gearbox combos. The Gemini is designed to be easily serviced. The motors are removed simply by pulling one screw and the nacelles themselves are removable. The plane is designed to be operated with or without landing gear. We recommend building it with the gear as it is easily removed or replaced in minutes.
Using two small outrunners instead of the GWS motors would provide awesome power.
We've been flying our stinger design all summer with a new motor combination which has proven to be amazing. Using an e-flite 370 outrunner, an 8 by 6 APC e-prop and a 1700 mah three cell lithum, we've attained unlimited vertical with this little airplane.
The stinger now easily equals any glow plane (and in fact beats most of them) in straight up vertical! And it can do this for a full eleven minutes on a 1700 mah Lipo. And it's definitely no wimp in the speed department either!
Add a rudder servo to this combination and you have a 30 inch span pattern plane capable of pretty much any manoeuvre.
The swallow is 39 inch span park flyer reminiscent of earlier free flight designs and is powered by a geared 280 motor on 7 NIMH cells. This is a very smooth and groovy little airplane, quite an agile little flyer, that routinely makes 12 minute full throttle flights on 720 mah cells. Hand launched with the wheels removed over our grass field, the plane is a delight in calm morning or evening air. Hand launching is a breeze, just a slight push and the Swallow is accelerating away from you. No need to run with this 11 ounce model, just hold it up and give it a shove.
Our AMPMEISTER also has new horsepower under the hood. The same E-FLITE 370 outrunner, with a three cell lipo and a 9 by 4.7 APC e-prop has dramatically improved the performance of this little airplane as well.
It now has nearly unlimited vertical, easily makes HUGE loops and flies much faster. The addition of an aluminum landing gear has it blasting off grass fields in 10-15 feet and climbing at a 70-80 degree angle right out of sight if you wish.
The SNOOPY is 41.25 inch span park flyer reminiscent of earlier free flight designs. This is a very smooth and groovy little airplane, quite an agile little flyer. Hand launched with the wheels removed over our grass field, the plane is a delight in calm morning or evening air. Hand launching is a breeze, just a slight push and the Snoopy is accelerating away from you.
The firewall has been designed for the GWSPO443 EPS motor and gearbox at 4.43:1 ratio but is easily adapted to the new outrunners by simply aligning the new motor and drilling mounting holes.
The PF-Cruiser is a 41 inch span park flyer reminiscent of 40's and 50's aircraft. This 12.5 ounce model is a full house park flyer, operating on ailerons, elevator, rudder and throttle. Four channels are not necessary though, and the PF-Cruiser can be flown with aileron, elevator and throttle simply by gluing the rudder permanently in place.
This new design is a smooth and agile little flyer you can operate in some pretty confined spaces.
Based loosely on the Curtis Robin, this is a 39 inch span park flyer. Hand launched with the wheels removed over our grass field, the plane is a delight in calm morning or evening air. Hand launching is a breeze, just a slight push and the Robin is accelerating away from you. No need to run with this 12 ounce model, just hold it up and give it a shove.
It's not just a calm day flyer as we routinely fly it in 10-15 mph winds with no problems. Flying in wind seems to be more related to the actual site itself than the size and weight of the model. Flying downwind of a treeline or other objects will result in turbulent air and a more difficult time with a light model. Fly in an open area with few obstructions and things get much better. We've flown this small plane dozens of times in winds so strong it can barely make any headway and have landed it easily every time with no damage.
